New Friends
Today at work the time was going by really slowly. When my shift was only half over and I finally got a break, I was surprised it was only break time and not time to go home. When I came back from break, I found Julia had signed on to the register next to mine. I've seen her around, but I've never had the chance to really meet her and get to know her yet. So while there were no costumers, I had the chance to get to know her better. I found myself thinking, "I'm so grateful for the opportunities I have to meet new people everyday and make new friends." When I came to this realization, work started being more fun and went by a bit faster. I tried harder to interact with customers coming through my line and learn more about the kinds of people I interact with everyday. Sometimes, it just amazes me what kinds of life stories people have. People are so interesting! And it made me feel good that some customers trusted me enough to tell me some of their most embarrassing moments, or tell me about some hardships going on in their lives. I must have the face of someone who can be trusted right away, because it seems like as soon as I say hi and smile, people just lay their life story out on me. I don't mind, I love listening to people. And it was really fun for me today to talk with so many great people and learn about different lives. It took me away from my own for a while, something I think I really needed. And it all started with wanting to get to know Julia better. So thanks Julia. :)

I agree. You do have a face of someone you can be trusted right away!
